Designing of a Room

Interior design typically begins with the plan. Fundamental to the logic of the plan is the distinction between rooms that can serve as both places and as routes for through circulation such as the living room, dining room, and kitchen-and rooms that, because of issues of privacy, require a separate circulation space or network of spaces to access them-such as bedrooms and bathrooms.

Lighting

A principal characteristic of daylight is its variability. The color of daylight changes with the time of day, the cleanliness of the atmosphere, and the inter reflection of surrounding objects. The intensity of the sun changes with the time of day, the time of year, and the latitude of the site. The luminescence of the sky depends on whether the light is coming from an overcast sky, from a clear sky only,or from a clear sky and direct sunlight. Windows and other daylight openings that are set flush in a wall or ceiling produce excessive contrasts between exterior brightness and the immediately adjacent interior surfaces. This contrast is often harsh and uncomfortable.

REFLECTION

Reflection is the return of light from a surface; it occurs when a portion of the light falling on the surface is thrown back by that surface just as a ball bounces back from the floor. Three kinds of reflection are involved in the control of light: specular, semi-specular, and diffuse.

COLOR

Color remains one of the most challenging and contentious aspects of interior design. As the painter and color theorist Josef Albers noted, "colors present themselves in continuous flux, constantly related to changing neighbors and changing conditions."The application and mixing of color has long been an intense area of study for scientists, artists, and designers. At the same time, color can be an extremely subjective topic: Everyone has their favorite colors-colors that remind them of a place or time, or that have specific emotive qualities. The role of color in interior design resists dissemination into simple rules and ideas, and yet understanding the complexities of using color in a space is fundamental to creating a successful interior. Thus, interior designers must learn the characteristics of color and how it can act as a focusing and organizing agent.
Color Schemes
Color schemes are the result of turning color combinations into a set of rules for an interior palette. Grounded in color theory, the designer can creatively select and organize color in harmonious combinations. In the abstract-that is, when color is not tied to a material-there are six "classic" combinations of color: monochromatic, analogous, complementary, split complementary, triadic , and tetradic. The examples below use a full-saturation color wheel, but the designer can vary both saturation and brightness.

FLOORING

Flooring is as integral to an interior project as any wall treatment. The many ways in which a floor can be constructed or covered provide the designer with a template that influences color, acoustics, and reflectance. Floor finishes can be continuous or designed with a combination of hard and soft surfaces. In addition to integral floors, area rugs and carpet tiles allow for a carefully strategized design.

FALSE CEILING

Ceilings are as important as any other surface in a room. Interior designers can use a number of materials to finish a ceiling, though, in some cases, they may wish to leave it exposed.Concrete ceiling is a commonly known name to everybody. But false ceiling is a name that has redefined the interior designing. Due to versatile nature and other important features of false ceiling made it an indispensable feature for every commercial place, be it in a office,or business place, or commercial complex or IT companies or a restaurant or a theater or stadium one can witness false ceiling. Various types of false ceilings have become part and parcel of all these places.
